The Fire Rakshak solution utilizes a passive fiber optic cable as a distributed temperature sensor wherein every meter acts as a sensor point shows the precise position of the area of heat build up or fire.

Fire

Fire can have critical consequences for human society due to the damage it causes to buildings and infrastructure. A large number of people lose their lives or become seriously injured as a result of fires. Studies indicate that large fires have occurred in buildings / Industrial settings with no or substandard fire alarm systems. Surveys conducted also indicate that at least 75% of fires are preventable. According to the some studies , there is a fire in a residential area every 85 seconds and these fires account for almost 80 percent of all fire related deaths.

It is imperative to increase knowledge of fire prevention and control and to combat fires in buildings, Infrastructure and Industrial settings. We at Technica Fiber Tech indent to contribute in our own small way towards preventing fires . We have developed a PREDICTIVE fire detection system using FIBER OPTICS .

Cement Plants Applications

Coal Storage

Oxidation is an exothermic reaction which causes the temperature of the coal stack to rise gradually As the pile exceeds approximately 800 C ignition can occur Rakshak can detect the rate of rise of temperature at a very early stage and alarm the system for necessary action or relay the action automatically if programmed.

Coal Conveying

Frictional resistance between idlers and rollers, insufficient lubrication, belt misalignment, and faulty bearings can generate sparks or heat, which can ignite the crushed coal Rakshak detects the early friction or heat generation and alarms the specific cause to avoid the fire or possible breakdown.

On site Power Plants

Some of the fire hazards associated with on site power plants include fire in powerhouse buildings due to ignition of lube oil Fuel oil fires and fire in the power plant boiler can also occur, as well as cable gallery fires Rakshak installation on lube tubes, boilers and cable trays constantly monitors the temperature and any possible cause of temperature rise that may result in fire is immediately addressed.

Electrical Equipment Cables

Storage of empty bags are a large fire hazard due to the combustible nature of the material used Fires in bag storage areas can spread to adjoining areas in the plant like the cement bagging station, increasing the potential loss of these fires Rakshak uses optical fibre as a sensor which is robust and reliable Unlike traditional smoke sensors, dust or heat doesn’t reduce the efficiency or sensitivity of the fibre.
